Abstract

Polygenetic mode of inheritance. This study was conducted amongst unrelated volunteer Nigerian students of Delta State University, Abraka, Nigeria. It included 234 female and 189 male, whose age ranged from 18 years and over. a Standard methods were applied in recording hand clasping. The incidence and distribution of hand Variations in phenotypic traits occurring in humans have been described to be a result of several factors. Hand clasping patterns have previously been described as an inherited trait. Significant parent offspring correlations have suggested clasping showed that right hand clasping was relatively higher in both female and their male counterparts. It was also shown that no significant difference exist between gender and hand clasping traits in the studied population.
