An investigation was undertaken to study the effect of spacing on seedling growth and quality parameters of Juniperus polycarpos under nursery conditions. One-year-old germinants of Juniperus polycarpos were transplanted in nursery beds under four different spacing to observe the seedling growth and quality parameters. The maximum shoot length (50.53cm), root length (33.92cm), collar diameter (7.48mm), number of roots (27.10), fresh shoot biomass (37.82 g), fresh root biomass (9.10 g), total fresh biomass (46.92g), dry shoot biomass (19.45 g), dry root biomass (4.38 g) and total dry biomass (23.83g) were recorded in seedlings planted under 30cm x 30cm spacing whereas minimum shoot length (39.38cm), root length (25.81cm), collar diameter (6.06mm), number of roots (20.50), fresh shoot biomass (23.63 g), fresh root biomass (6.12 g), total fresh biomass (29.75g), dry shoot biomass (13.02 g), dry root biomass (2.94 g) and total dry biomass (15.96g) were recorded in seedlings planted under 15cm x 15cm spacing. Similarly, the highest value of quality parameters viz., Volume Index (2962.45) and Quality Index (2.12) were also observed in seedlings planted under 30cm x 30cm. The study recommends planting Juniperus polycarpos seedlings at 30cm x 30 cm spacing for the production of quality nursery stock.
