In recent time Ethiopia witnessed new political circumstances that altered the political landscape of the country. Coupled with a good many political anecdotes, this new phenomenon has been reinvigorating the nationalism discourse and becoming a grand predicament for nation engineering in the country. The trend even leads to extreme form of nationalism; ultra nationalism that will be a peril for the nation building that the country has been striving for decades. The coming and reinvigoration of political forces and figures established along the lines of ethnicity following the political change has also speeded up the surfacing of extreme nationalist groups. The nation building and national consensus process will be hampered as there are ferocious conflicts of interests among the extreme nationalist groups as they purport sundry political interests founded on the historical narratives which are cumbersome to allege political integration. The multinational building which the country has been striving to attain in the last century should be accorded attention.
