Field research tends to be a thorny issue for both students, community researchers, and practitioners. Indeed, it is difficult to conceptualize what constitute field work, the value of field research and the techniques of studying. Field Research in Political Science: Practices and Principles, first of its kind reconsider the design and execution of field research and examine it role in producing scientific knowledge, “leaving one’s home institution in order to acquire data, information, or insights that significantly inform one’s research” (p.1).
