A study was conducted in Tigray region northern Ethiopia during the years 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 to see the effect of combined fertilizers and compost application on the yield and yield parameters of flax (Linum usitatissimum L.). The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications and five experimental plots treated with (N-P-S-Zn), (N-P-S), (N-P), compost and control with unit plot size of 3 m × 3 m subjected to analysis of variance. The results showed that a combined application of (N-P-S-Zn) gave a significant higher yield over the control plot (P = 0.05). The highest mean grain yield was obtained from plots fertilized with (N, P, S, and Zn) 3888.9 kg ha-1 while 2011.00 kg he-1 was the lowest average yield obtained from control plot. Similarly, the yield and growth parameters were increased progressively with combined application of (N-P-S-Zn) fertilizers. It can therefore be concluded that for increased flax yield in the study area, 20 kg N, 20 kg P, 15 kg S and 10 kg Zn fertilizers application per hectare could be needed.
