This study was carried on the perceived influence of alcohol abuse on students’ academic adjustment among public secondary schools in Jalingo Metropolis Taraba State-Nigeria. The study was guided by two research questions and two hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study adopted a descriptive research design. The population of the study consisted of 7,310 students in 11 public secondary schools in Jalingo Metropolis Taraba State. The sample of the study was 380 respondents. The instrument used for data collection was a researcher self-developed structured questionnaire titled “Students’ Alcohol Abuse and Academic Adjustment Questionnaire (SAAAQ)”. Data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions. The Chi-Square Statistics was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings: The cluster means score of (mean: 2.09 and std. 0.662) of all the items under study habit shows that the respondents perceived that alcohol abuse has significant negative influence on students’ study habits and in research question two, the cluster means scores of 2.03 of most of the items under class participation shows that alcohol abuse have significant negative influence on the rate at which students participate in class activities.
