Abstract

Four hundred and five (405) students were involved in this survey in order to determine general attitudes of High School students towards Geography. The only aim of this study is not to determine the place of Geography lesson among other courses. We also tried to find out the reasons why students have positive or negative attitudes towards it. The results of the research suggest that Geography is the fourth lesson among the most favorable courses. Of course, there are many factors that make this lesson one of the most favorite courses. From the answers to the open-ended questions, it can be concluded that students’  positive opinions about their teachers is  the most  effective factor that increase students’ interest in the lesson.

Key words: Attitude, teaching geography, high school education, geography lesson, student.
