Impact of Millennium Village Project (MVP), on the livelihood of farmers in Pampa’ida village in Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Nigeria

This study assessed the Impact of the Millennium Village Project (MVP), on livelihood of farmers in Pampa’ida village of Kaduna State. The process of data collection was through the use of structured interview schedule. The research used 120 questionnaires which were administered to the beneficiaries in the 28 settlements that constitute the study area. Analysis of variance (ANOVA), Lorenz curve and Gini coefficient were used to analyze the data collected. At 10% probability level, the income distribution among the beneficiaries was significant. Cluster B had greater income followed by Cluster C; Cluster D was third, while Cluster A reported the least income. The overall or combined birthrate for the beneficiaries was 2.6%. The child mortality rate was 5.2%, while the maternal mortality rate was 5.6%. It is recommended that the provision of social amenities like electricity, pipe borne water, tarred roads, etc., should be provided to all the settlements.
