 Abstract

The present study found that gold nanoparticles with nanosizes below 100 nm can be synthesized by a wet-chemical route, carried out by induced autocatalytic method. The successive liking of the neighboring nanoparticles seeds by benzenedimethanethiol (BDMT) followed by the induced reduction of Au (III) ions leads to the formation of well defined nanostructure assembly. The size and shape of gold nanoparticles were relatively achieved in a good uniformity. Surface analysis and imaging techniques provided a direct evidence for the successful fabrication of the gold nanostructure. Electrochemical measurements revealed that all of the nanoparticles surfaces are not involved in the adsorption of BDMT.

Key words: Gold nanostructure, benzenedimethanethiol (BDMT), imaging techniques, electrochemical measurements, radiation therapy
