One-pot synthesis of some (1H)-quinoxalin-2-ones

Abstract

o-phenylenediamine and 4-benzoyl-1,2-diaminobenzene react with ethyl bromoacetate in basic medium under mild reaction conditions to give directly 1H-quinoxalin-2-one (2) and 7-benzoyl-1H-quinoxalin-2-one (4), respectively. Alkylation at the nitrogen atoms of 7-benzoyl-3,4-dihydro-1H-quinoxalin-2-one (3) and compound 4 has been also carried out.
