The
somatic incompatibility in Agaricus bitorquis was
studied using ten wild strains. Heterokaryons from each
isolate were all paired with the same unrelated heterokaryon
and also paired together in all combinations. Two different
types of somatic incompatible interaction were observed
lightly or heavily pigmented lines developing between the
two isolates. In addition to, some elements and photographs
of hyphae were determined by means of scanning electron
microscopy.
